"It's Parade Day!"

Since moving to Chicago Dan and I have had a lot of great experiences, but this Saturday was definitely up there as one of the more fun things we've done since moving here. Two of the girls I work with are on the Michigan Mile Lights Festival committee and this year they were looking for volunteers for the Parade. Dan has been talking about the parade for weeks, so of course I signed us up. We really didn't know what was in store for us at all. First of all, this is no small parade. They estimate that 1 million people come into the city to watch the city light up. Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Daisy, and Pluto and Goofy were all there along with Santa and Mrs. Claus and all kinds of other characters.

These other characters are the people that were on our Navy Pier float! Dan sent me to go to the Pent House Suite at the hotel to pick up our "talent." I had no idea what to expect when I knocked on the door, and when "Rudy the Reindeer Wrangler" opened the door I about fell over laughing. This group of people never got out of character. They really entertained us as we waited for the parade to start moving. We sang and danced and checked out all of the other floats. When it was finally our time to make our way onto the Avenue we were so surprised to see all the people lined up on the streets and all the lights finally turned on. It was great!

We had so much fun with our characters and Dan is already excited to see what kind of float we get next year!
